The Discussions button allows authorized users to collaborate, communicate, search, and view topics of discussion relevant to a case folder.
NOTE: This is only for case folder specific discussions. Broader topics are discussed within the Discussions Thread widget, available on the Home Page.
New Discussion
To start a new discussion:
Navigate to the Assignments tab of the selected case folder.
Click Discussions.

The Discussions Thread for (Case Folder Number) window appears. Click New.

The New Discussion Thread for (Case Folder Number) window appears. Enter a name for the discussion in the Thread Name field.

Select the type of discussion from the Type drop down list. The default option is Public.
Click Add Attachment to add a supporting attachment, if necessary.
Use the text editor to configure the topic of the discussion.
Click Save. The new discussion is added to the Folder Discussions list.
Search Discussions
To search for a discussion:
Navigate to the Assignments tab of the selected case folder.
Click Discussions.

The Discussions Thread for (Case Folder Number) window appears.

Click Search. The Search Discussion Thread(s) window appears.

Using the fields within the window, enter any search criteria available in order to narrow down the search results. The fields are detailed below:
Field | Description |

Thread Name | The name of the discussion topic. |
Type | Select Public or Private from the drop down list. |
Status | Select Open or Closed from the drop down list. |
Read Status | Select Read or Unread from the drop down list. |
Started By | Click the user picker to select the original author of the discussion. |
Start Date | Select the range of dates the discussion began. |
Last Posted By | Click the user picker to select the user who last posted within the discussion. |
Last Posted Date | Select the range of dates the last post on the discussion was added. |
Attachment Name | Enter the name of any attachments on the discussion. |
Description | Enter any other information that may be relevant to the discussion. |
Click Search. eCASE returns a list of discussions containing any of the entered search criteria. Users can then add to or view the discussions.
