1.1 Electronic Signatures for Selected Request Types

PAL Configuration Administrators can now require requesters to sign selected request types electronically before they submit them through PAL.

To require an electronic signature for a request type:

  1. Navigate to PAL Configuration, then Modules.

  2. Select the eSignature Module checkbox.

  3. Click Add Request Type.

  4. Select the Request Type.

  5. Enter the Signature Statement.

  6. Set Status to Enabled.

  7. Click Save.

The signature statement can be up to 800 characters, and each request type can be added only once. A newly added request type is Disabled until you enable it.

For each enabled request type, the PAL request form shows an Electronic Signature section with the signature statement beside a checkbox. The request cannot be submitted until the checkbox is selected. If the module is off or the request type is disabled, the section does not appear.

In FOIAXpress, the new eSignature Details section on the Request Information page shows the signature type, signer name, username, signature date and time with time zone, IP address, and the statement signed. The section is read-only, and requests submitted without a signature show that no signature applies. Changing a signature statement later does not change the statement on requests already signed.
