We’ve made various enhancements to improve application security.

We’ve also made enhancements related to accessibility to improve application compliance with Section 508 accessibility standards.

Configuration Tools in FOIAXpress

To streamline the configuration process, certain settings are now managed directly in FOIAXpress Administration, rather than a separate desktop application.

Sign On Mode

You can now configure sign on modes for FOIAXpress directly from the Administration folder. Navigate to FOIAXpress Administration, then System Administration > Sign On Mode.

Use the Sign On Mode drop-down menu to choose a sign on method. If you select Forms, you will also be prompted to select a Membership Provider. If you select SAML SSO, additional fields will appear where you can configure details. When you’re finished, click Save.

PAL Sync Configuration

Administrators can now configure PAL Sync settings via Administration > System Administration > FOIAXpress Sync Configuration. This page includes Web Service Configuration options, Requester Profile configuration fields, SMTP Server Information, and other sync-related fields.

File Repository Configuration

We’ve added file repository configuration fields to Administration > System Administration > System Settings > Locations.

Allowed Upload File Formats

We’ve added a new file format configuration page, available at Administration > Security > Allowed Upload File Formats. This enables Administrators to establish a whitelist for allowed file types, improving file upload activity security.

To remove a file format from the list, deselect it and click Save.

You can add a new allowed file format by clicking Add New and filling out format and extension details.

Other Enhancements

Scheduled Reports: .xlsx Files

Scheduled Reports can now be exported and attached as an .xlsx Microsoft Excel file.

Delivery Enhancements for Media Files

Redacted media files can now be included in delivery packages for all delivery modes, including Save to Disk, Publish to Reading Room, and Document Delivery (Email, PAL, Mail, Hand Delivery, CD, and Custom Created Modes). If you include an unredacted media file in a

delivery package, a pop-up alert is displayed to prevent accidental delivery of unredacted information.

Legacy File Upload/Download: .dotx Files

When Legacy Upload/Download is enabled in Administration > System Administration > System Settings > Client Access Option, you can now upload and download Correspondence Template files in .dotx format. This enables support for Microsoft Word Quick Parts and merging letter templates.

Request Field Character Limit

In the National FOIA Portal, requesters can input request descriptions with up to 10k characters. We have updated PAL request fields and corresponding FOIAXpress fields character limits to 10k. This helps ensure requests sent via National FOIA Portal are received properly.

Performance Improvements: Annual Reporting

We’ve made updates to improve the speed of Annual Report generation.

FOIAXpress does not currently support adding review layers to media files; this functionality is only available in Veritone. Do not use the Merge Review Layer function for media files.

If you attempt to merge review layers for media files in folders with sections, the resulting file will not have any redactions applied. If the folder does not have any sections, the Merge Review Layer job will fail.

When a phrase is entered in the redaction exclusion list, Find and Redact will apply redactions to all instances of the word unless it is part of the full phrase.

For example, if ā€œCasepoint technology companyā€ is on the redaction exclusion list, and ā€œCasepointā€ is entered into Find and Redact, all instances of ā€œCasepointā€ will be redacted except for instances of ā€œCasepoint technology company.ā€
