Map Block Properties Window

The Block Property window for a Map Block is shown below:

The Map block includes an area to (A) Assign Values to Variables, and space to (B) Add a Note. We recommend adding a note to document the procedure steps for other developers to easily understand the procedure. See the Mapping Values to Variables section for more information on using variable mapping.

Mapping Values to Variables

Follow the steps below to map a value to a variable for a Map Block:

  1. Select the variable. Use the drop down list to either Add a New Variable or select an existing variable

  2. If you select Add a New Variable, a pop-up screen prompts you to select a data type, add a name, then select OK to add a new variable

  1. After selecting a variable, the next step is to assign a value to the variable. There are two options for adding the value to the variable, depending on if the Variable is an object (multiple properties that can have multiple data types) or has a singular data type (one property). . If the variable has multiple properties, skip to step 6. Otherwise move to step 4 below

  2. Select the + symbol to add the value

  1. Use the edit icon to add the value to the variable. The expression editor opens in a new pop-up for the user to construct the value

NOTE: The blue box lists the data type of the variable. When editing the expression, the value must match the data type in the blue box (data type of the variable). Please review the Expression Editor section for details on creating expressions.

  1. If the variable has multiple properties, select The Set Property icon to set the property of each item in the object

Select one of the (A) Object Items from the drop down menu. Select the (B) Edit icon to open the Expression Editor and configure the value to be associated with the variable

NOTE: The blue box, that lists the data type will update when you select one of the object items. It will display the data type for the item selected. When editing the expression, the value must match the data type in the blue box (data type of the item). Please review the Expression Editor described in the About Block Property Window section.

  1. You can use the (C) Add Property button to add more properties to configure the value of each item in the object

  2. Click OK to close the pop-up and save your work. Alternatively, click Cancel to close the pop-up and discard your work

  3. After the variable and value are added to the list, you can edit the properties, or delete the variable and the value it is mapped to
