The optional Technology Assisted Review (TAR) module in EDR measures document relevancy using user-guided training, helping to find relevant documents that may not be captured in containment clusters. In this section, we'll detail the TAR interface and how to create and tune custom TARs.

Documents

Documents contained in the current TAR are listed here. Selecting items from this provides limited actions. Use the checkbox to select items from the list and click an action button above to take actions on the documents in the TAR.

Options to filter and search documents contained in the currently open TAR.  See the Filters and Search subsection for details on the filter and search options.

Actions

Select an action to take on documents selected from the Documents list. See the Actions subsection for details.

Filters & Search

When a TAR is open, there are options to help filter and locate responsive records. The expanded Filters & Search options are shown below:

Filters & Search

The current TAR Name is listed. The Training Completeness is also noted here. Training completeness is measured as a percentage of the total number of documents in the set. Adding more training docs from this set will improve this score.

Select the Training Documents View checkbox to view only documents added to Training Documents from this set.

Scores

Use the Relevancy Score field to filter only documents within a certain range in Relevancy Score.

Review Status

Select one or more Review Status to filter by review status.

Moved to DM Status

Select the Moved to DM status to filter documents that are Moved or Not Moved.

Exclude Documents

Select these options to exclude Contained, Duplicates, or Blanks documents.

Quick Search

Select to limit search results, or use the dropdown menu to quickly locate items in the TAR

Precision-Recall Curve

This curve demonstrates the precision of the TAR, with an ideal measurement being a horizontal line at 1.0

Managing TARs

In this section we'll describe how to create and manage TARs in EDR. When you land on the TAR tab, no records are displayed. Click Manage TAR to open or create a TAR:

The TAR screen appears as shown below:

Existing TARs are listed here. Select from the list and click Load to load an existing TAR. There are also options to Edit and Delete TARs on this list. There is also the option to create a TAR. See the next section for details.

Create new TAR

Follow the steps below to create a new TAR.

  1. From the TAR tab, click Manage TAR, then click Create. The Add to TAR screen appears:

  2. Enter a Name for the TAR.

  3. Select a Cluster Set from the drop-down list.

  4. Under Training Process, elect to Let System Select Relevant Documents or Let User Select Training Documents (to select training documents manually from the set)

  5. Provide the Number of Relevant Training Docs to be captured.

  6. Optionally, add Notes.

  7. Click Save to process the new TAR.

  8. A Job Progress window appears. Click Close Window when the job is complete.

  9. The TAR tab reloads with the selected cluster documents present and ready for further action.
