About Statements

Statements are the UI Designer’s way of communicating with eCASE about what to do when executing a rule. Each rule can have multiple statements. The UI Designer currently supports nine types of statements, each designed for a specific purpose.

In the Rule Details panel, there is a sub-panel for statements (shown in the figure below). Statements are executed from top to bottom as they are displayed in the statement panel. You can drag the statements up or down inside the panel to rearrange the executing order.

To create the desired statement, click the green (plus sign) and then choose your desired statement type in the Rule dropdown.

Some rules require you to use the Expression Editor, to write an Expression as a component of the statement. The Expression Editor  button opens the Expression Editor. The Expression Editor is covered in a separate section.

Changing the Rule dropdown allows for changes to the Statement Editor’s UI, as described in the following subsections.
