Prev Next

eCASE provide a separate Document Review Module (DRM) for conducting detailed document reviews for documents added as attachments to an eCASE folder. With access to the Document Review Module, you will have the option to conduct page-by-page document reviews, draw redactions, find-and-redact specific text, highlight, comment, add annotations and more.

Note: The Document Review module is an add-on eCASE feature and must be licensed for use.

Prerequisites

To access the Document Review module, you must first do the following:

  • Be a licensed Document Review user

  • Create a case folder (or access an existing folder)

  • Add attachments to the case folder

  • Ensure your attachment is in "Ready to Review" status

Once the above criteria are satisfied, you will be able to access the DRM. See Accessing Document Reviews for steps to access the Document Review Module.

Document Review Tools

The Document Review Module provides robust tools for reviewing documents attached to folders in eCASE. Included in this tool set are:

Tool

Description

Redactions

Use Redactions to hide/remove sensitive information in documents. Redactions can be drawn on a page using the various redaction tools, using the find-and-redact tool, or pages can be redacted in full if the entirety of a page's content must be withheld.

Review Objects:

In the process of reviewing documents, the DRM provides a set of review tools that are useful when collaborating on a review, or to highlight/note specific information.

Image Operations:

Documents can be manipulated using image editing tools to enhance the usability of the documents in question. Image operations include the ability to flip, rotate, and deskew pages.

Review Layers

All of the document review tools - Redactions, Review Objects, and Image Operations - can be saved as Review Layers in DRM. These layers allow users to collaborate on reviews, or create different sets of reviews/redactions if the document is intended for release to different audiences with differing access levels. These layers can be viewed and managed discretely.

Other Actions

The Document Review Module also allows you to export reviewed documents from the module, either to your local drive or sent to a printer. You can also add annotations to pages.
