In the course of using the eCASE System, you will encounter certain features and icons that are standard across applications. Familiarizing yourself with these functions can help you to work more quickly and easily in eCASE:

Required Field |
| Red Asterisks or a red border designate that the field is required. You must complete this field to perform an action or submit the form. |
Lookup |
| Here users can make a selection from the list of options to complete the data field. |
Calendar |
| Click this icon to open the calendar selection tool. Click anywhere outside the calendar selection tool to close the tool. This tool is available on date-based fields and provides a visual tool for easily selecting dates. |
Insert |
| Some lists allow for multiple entries, for example listing multiple addresses of contacts. If users can add more entries to the list, the Insert icon is available. Click to add a new entry to the list. |
Drop Down List |
| Click this menu to expand and select from a list of previously configured options. |
Checkbox |
| Click this checkbox to select an item. This is typically to designate that an action is applied only to the specified entries. |
Button |
| Click this icon to perform an action on the selected item. |
Attachments |
| Click this icon to open the Attachments/Select Item pop-up window. |
Radio Buttons |
| Radio buttons allow the user to select from different options. Sometimes, selecting a radio button will enable other options, like additional radio buttons or a drop-down list, depending on configuration. Click inside a grey circle to select that radio button. |
Collapse/Expand |
| The Collapse and Expand buttons toggle the view applied to a list or section within eCASE. The - button reduces the section to just the Header level, and the + button expands a collapsed list or section. |
