Classified information is information to which access is restricted by an agency ATIP office. A formal clearance is usually required to access classified documents or data. Classification applies to different levels of protection based on the expected damage the information might cause if it is accessed by unauthorized persons.
The term declassified is used for information that has its classification removed. In this process, the documents may be made available for public review. The ATIP office needs to thoroughly review the classified information before declassifying it.
The declassification is configured by the ATIPXpress Administrator, who will assign users the required Permissions for the declassification process. Users will then be able to declassify when creating or editing a Folder, saving redactions, and when adding documents or Folders to Requests.
There are two types of Declassifications: Release Restrictions and Review Types.
