Release Restriction

Release Restrictions are restrictions that are imposed on documents not ready for general release due to issues related to Copyright or the Privacy Act. Release Restrictions will be used when saving Redactions. Users with the required Permissions can create conditions for the release of documents retained in Document Management.

Create a Release Restriction

  1. Click Administration > Document Management > Declassifications. The Declassifications-Release Restrictions screen displays as shown below.

  2. Click New. The New Declassification-Release Restrictions screen displays as shown below.

  3. Enter information in the fields described below per your agency's requirements.

Field

Description

Release Restriction

The name of the Release Restriction.

Active

When selected, activates the Release Restriction for use in the application. This checkbox will be selected by default.

Description

A brief description of the Release Restriction.

  1. Click Save. A verification message displays as shown below.

  2. Click OK.

Edit Release Restriction

Users with the required Permissions can edit Release Restrictions. Follow the steps below to edit a Release Restriction:

  1. Click Administration > Document Management > Declassifications. The Declassifications-Release Restrictions screen displays

  2. Select the Release Restriction to edit, then click Edit. The Edit Declassification screen displays for the selected Release Restriction

  3. Make any necessary modifications, then click Save. A verification message displays as shown below

  4. Click OK.

Delete Release Restriction

Users with the required Permissions can delete Release Restrictions. Follow the steps below to delete a Release Restriction:

  1. Click Administration > Document Management > Declassifications. The Declassifications-Release Restrictions screen displays

  2. Select the Release Restriction to delete, then click Delete. A verification message displays

  3. Click OK

Note: If deleted, the Release Restrictionno longer appears on the Declassifications-Release Restrictions screen, or in the Release Restrictions field located under Document Management > Search Folders > Review Layer Declassification Information.
