There are various page viewing options within Document Management. You can make the zoom level less than 100% to see a long image, or zoom in to a level higher than 100% to view details in an image. You can also re-size images according to the height, width or the area of the window.
NOTE: If one of the following page viewing options is used for a page image, the image cannot be saved in that view:
Option | Toolbar Icon | Description |
Magnifying Glass |
| Use the mouse to hover and click to enlarge the area under the cursor. You can also click and hold to move the magnified area |
Zoom In |
| Zoom in on the Reading Page |
Zoom Out |

NOTE: The page view tools described in the table above are located on the Document Management toolbar.
Status Bar
The Document Management viewer includes a status bar at the bottom of the Reading Pane. As you navigate pages in the viewer, the status bar shows information about the page you are currently viewing.
Page Reference Code

Every page in FOIAXpress carries a permanent, system-unique Page Reference Code (PRC). The PRC is assigned to a page when its document is first ingested into FOIAXpress and never changes. The same PRC identifies that one page across the entire system — across every document, request, consultation, and Request for Documents (RFD) package the page appears in — and is never shared between any two pages.
A page receives a PRC when its document is ingested through any of the following pathways:
The EDR Document Management module.
A Review Log document upload.
A Request document upload.
A reviewer document upload via an RFD task in the Collab portal.
In the FOIAXpress viewer status bar, the PRC of the currently active page appears between the Ready, indicator and the GUID field, in the format: PRC-XXXXXX
For example, PRC-FX-12345.
How the PRC updates
The PRC in the status bar refreshes immediately whenever you move to a different page in the viewer - by clicking Next, Previous, selecting a page in the navigation pane, or jumping to a page through the Page Reference Code Lookup widget (see Page Reference Code Lookup below). The PRC always reflects the page that is currently displayed.
PRC for pages in a Consuation or RFD package
When a Consultation or RFD includes only a subset of pages from the original document, each included page displays its own PRC in the status bar. The PRC reflects the page's position in the original source document - not its sequential position within the Consultation or RFD package. This makes it possible to trace any reviewer's comment back to the exact original document and page, even when the page has been included in multiple packages.
NOTE: The same PRC is shown in the FOIAXpress viewer status bar (analyst side) and in the Collab portal viewer status bar (Program Office reviewer side) for any given page. Reviewers in the Collab portal see exactly the PRC the analyst sees, regardless of which Consultation or RFD package surfaced on the page. See the Collab portal user manual for the reviewer-side description.
Pre-feature documents
NOTE: Pages that were ingested into FOIAXpress before the Page Reference Code feature shipped do not have a PRC. For these pages, the status bar displays Not Available in the same position between the Ready indicator and the GUID field. Pages ingested after the feature shipped always show their assigned PRC.
Page Reference Code Lookup
The Page Reference Code Lookup widget on the Document Management page toolbar lets you jump directly to any page by entering its PRC. This is useful when a Program Office reviewer cites a specific PRC in feedback, and you want to open exactly that page in the viewer without searching through the document.
Look up a page by its PRC
On the Document Management page toolbar, locate the Page Reference Code Lookup input field.
Enter the PRC of the page you want to open. You can enter the code in either form:
Form | Example |
|---|---|
Stored form | FX-12345, AX-8240, CO-3605 |
Display form (the form shown in the status bar) | PRC-FX-12345 (same with AX / CO) |
Click Find or press Enter. The viewer opens the page identified by the PRC, and the status bar updates to show that PRC.
Empty input
If you click Find or press Enter while the lookup field is empty, no lookup is performed, and no result is displayed. The viewer continues to show whatever page you were already viewing.
