Vaughn Index Report

The Vaughn Index identifies each document withheld, states the statutory exemption claimed, and explains how disclosure would damage the interests protected by the claimed exemption.

NOTE: You can view the Vaughn Index Report of a Request, only when the Request Status is "Documents Delivered."

Steps to View the Vaughn Index Report

  1. Open the Request whose history you want to view.

  2. Click Log/Reports. The Log/Reports screen will be displayed as shown below.

  1. Click Vaughn Index Report (see highlight in the image above). The Vaughn Index Report screen displays as shown below.

  1. The Vaughn Index Report displays the following information:

Field

Description

Folder Name

The name given to the Folder.

Disposition

The determination regarding whether requested documents will be granted/released, and to what extent.

Section

The section containing the reviewed documents.

Review Layer Name

The name given to the review layer.

Total # of Pages

The number of pages reviewed in the Folder.

Summary

The summary of the review.

Exemptions

The exemption codes used for the review.

Description

Description of the exempted information after review.

Page Number: The number of the Page.

Review Status: The review status of the Page (Reviewed/Not reviewed.

Redaction Codes: The redaction codes used in the review process.

Comments: Comments for the review, if any.

Exemption Description: The description of the exemption codes under which the information has been exempted.
