eCASE provides a drag-and-drop Workflow Designer tool for creating, viewing and editing custom application workflows. This document provides a guide for designing custom workflows for your eCASE application. The images contained in this document are sample screenshots and not specific to your office’s information. Please carefully review each item to determine the appropriate settings for your organization.

Not every case type requires a workflow. This workflows in this section are well-defined, structured and can be modeled in business process flow diagrams. Case types can also be configured without using Workflow Templates. These are processed using an ad hoc workflow or a routing list workflow. Ad hoc and routing list workflows are not covered in this section of the document.

Before building workflows based on your business processes, you will need the following information:

  • Any business process documents, flowcharts or diagrams

  • Relevant organizational roles

You’ll model your workflow from your own process documents, and assign roles as arranged in your organization.

In order to access the Workflow Designer and create workflow templates, a case type must be configured to use standard workflows. To enable standard workflows, first navigate to the Case Type Configuration (Settings > Applications > App Designer > Case Type Configuration). Click Workflow Features, and set Workflow Type to Standard.
